When the panel should stay removable: The basic Pixfix system holds a panel firmly on the wall. There are cases, though, where that is precisely not wanted: where access lies behind it, where the surface comes off for cleaning, or where the artwork changes regularly. That is what this magnet is for.
How it works: The magnet works together with the counterpart of the Pixfix Safe system. The panel is offered up and holds without clicking in. To remove it you pull it straight off the wall, with no tools and no catch to release.
The difference from the fixed version: A clicked-in panel sits more securely, a magnetically held one changes faster. In public areas the fixed version is right; in internal areas with frequent changes, the magnetic one.
Mind the weight: Magnets hold in one direction. A panel pulling downwards needs more points than one that merely has to be held. When in doubt allow generously and spread the points across the area.
Where it makes sense: In front of inspection openings, meter cabinets and maintenance hatches. There the combination solves a problem fixed fittings cannot: the surface looks closed and is nonetheless open in seconds.
What it does not replace: The magnet is no theft protection. Where a panel has to be secured against unauthorised removal, the fixed Pixfix mounting remains the right choice.
Offering it up: Bring the panel to the wall straight rather than at an angle. A magnet that grips at one corner first pulls the panel askew, and next time it seats differently again.
Reordering: Keep a few in stock. Magnets are the part that gets left over or lost during a rebuild, and without them the panel does not hang.
Handling: Keep magnets away from cards with magnetic stripes and from sensitive electronics. That applies in storage already, not only when mounting on the wall.
