A barrier post for everyday use: The Stopper Point guides people where a fixed barrier would be too much and none at all too little. In front of a till, at an entrance, along a queue. The post stands on a weighted base and the belt retracts into its cassette at the push of a button.

How far one belt reaches: The band extends up to two metres. Two posts therefore span two metres, three posts four. For longer runs you simply add posts. Each one carries a belt receiver on three sides, so corners and junctions can be laid out as well.

With or without a belt: The post comes both ways. The version without a belt is not a budget model but the counterpart at the end of a run: it only receives the band of the previous post, so a cassette of its own would be redundant. Anyone barriering off a stretch from A to B usually needs one belted post fewer than first expected.

Finish: Anodised aluminium, matt silver or matt black. The matt surface picks up fingerprints and water marks far less readily than a gloss coating. A damp cloth is enough to clean it, no polish required.

Assembly: Everything needed is supplied and a post goes together in a few minutes. No tools are involved.

Where it belongs: Indoors. For open ground outdoors a retractable belt is the wrong choice, because wind pulls the band out of its guide.

How many posts you need: Divide the stretch to be closed off by two metres and add one post. Ten metres therefore call for six posts. Plan the run slightly short rather than tight: a band permanently at full extension loses tension faster than one running with some reserve.

Storage between uses: Where posts stand only occasionally they should be stored upright rather than stacked flat. Posts lying on their heads press on the cassette, and that is exactly where the mechanism sits that the return brake depends on.

Combining with other series: Point, Master and the wall clips all work on the same principle of belt cassette and receiver. You can therefore mix them along one run, for instance heavier posts at the end points and lighter ones in between.
