Why a heading works: People decide in passing whether a display concerns them. Without a heading they would have to read the content, and that is exactly what does not happen on the move. One word above the shelf costs nothing and decides whether anyone stops.

Material thickness: The holder takes panels up to four millimetres. That covers acrylic, thin aluminium composite and heavier board. Check the thickness of your sign before ordering, because material that is too thick will not go in.

Material and finish: Silver-plated brass with a gloss chrome surface. That is a deliberate accent: the holder does not recede but sets a highlight at the top edge of the display.

Before ordering: Measure the thickness of your actual top sign rather than the nominal figure in a catalogue. Acrylic is made to a tolerance, and at four millimetres nominal a tenth decides whether the panel seats.

Height above the display: Keep the sign close to the top shelf. A heading floating well above the display gets read as belonging to the wall rather than to what is underneath it.
