The photo stand 15 x 9 cm is a widescreen landscape format in the 16:9 aspect ratio, the format of video stills, panoramic shots and phone photos taken in 16:9 mode. At 15 x 9 cm it is as wide as the standard print and flatter, a format for which hardly any ready-made frames exist. The stand is a frameless picture frame made of crystal-clear PLEXIGLAS® XT, 2.0 mm thick; the picture fills the surface edge to edge, without frame, backing board or clips.
Construction and handling: The photo stand is bent from a single piece and needs a footprint of roughly 15 x 6.5 cm. The base carries four anti-slip feet, the inclined pane holds the picture: the print slides in from the top behind the pane and rests on the lower edge by itself. Changing it takes a few seconds and needs no tools. At 88 g the stand is light enough for the windowsill and stable enough for the desk.
Material: PLEXIGLAS® is the original among acrylic glasses. It is UV-stable, does not yellow even after years by the window and is considerably more break-resistant than glass of the same thickness. The edges are diamond-polished and shine like ground glass; fingerprints wipe off with a soft cloth and a little water. Avoid glass cleaners containing alcohol and abrasive agents, and the pane stays permanently clear.
Typical applications: At home the stand sits on sideboard, shelf and chest of drawers, where a family photo or the picture from the last holiday finds its place without drilling or nails. As a gift for a birth, a wedding or an anniversary, a single print becomes a finished present. In retail and hospitality the same stand keeps notice and promotion cards ready on counter and table, photographers use it to present proof prints, and at events it carries place cards or the guests' photos.
The right size: 15 x 9 cm is the smaller of the two 16:9 sizes and takes phone photos from widescreen mode as well as stills from videos; the larger version is the 18 x 10 cm stand. The 16:9 range comprises 15 x 9 and 18 x 10 cm. For classic prints in 3:2 landscape format there are sizes from 13 x 9 to 45 x 30 cm.
