A photo stand holds a printed photo free-standing, without a frame, backing board or clips. It is also known as a picture stand, photo holder, picture holder or frameless acrylic picture frame. The print slides in from the top behind the crystal-clear panel and can be swapped at any time. Each of the 33 formats matches a phone or camera format exactly, for home, office, photo studio and shop counter, singly or in quantity for photo retailers.

Photo stand or picture frame? What makes the difference

Anyone looking for a picture stand, a photo holder or a frameless picture frame often means three different things. So, in brief: how the acrylic photo stand differs from the classic frame, what it is not, and what makes it a good gift.

Three things the photo stand is not

Not a table easel. A picture stand for a canvas or wooden frame is an easel. The photo stand carries the print itself, not a frame.
Not a support for other frames. Stands or struts for picture frames are backing-board supports. With the photo stand, the frame becomes unnecessary.
Not a clip frame. There, clips press a glass sheet against the backing board. The photo stand needs none of these parts.

As a photo gift

A print in the matching photo stand is a gift that stands straight away: for a birth or christening, a wedding, a birthday, a housewarming or Valentine's Day. Also for a memorial service, when a photo of remembrance should stand at the place.

Without glass, the stand is easy to wrap and post. Whoever receives it can later swap the photo for a new one and keep using the stand.

Two sizes from the same series work well as a set, for example 10 x 15 cm for the desk and 20 x 30 cm for the sideboard, with two prints from the same occasion.
