The photo stand 9 x 15 cm follows the phone display: the 9:16 aspect ratio is the format in which smartphones record upright videos, stories and photos in 16:9 mode. At 9 x 15 cm it is the slim companion for the desk, where a standard print would look too wide. The stand is a frameless picture frame made of crystal-clear PLEXIGLAS® XT, 2.0 mm thick; the picture fills the surface edge to edge, without frame, backing board or clips.
Construction and handling: The shape is an L made from one piece: a base with four anti-slip feet and a pane leaning backwards, together roughly 9 x 6.5 cm of footprint. The picture slides in from the top, sits behind the pane and rests on the lower edge; no tools or clips are needed. At 84 g the stand is light enough for the windowsill and stable enough for the desk.
Material: The pane is made of original PLEXIGLAS® XT, an acrylic glass that is UV-stable and does not yellow. It lets through more light than window glass and is considerably more break-resistant. The edges are diamond-polished, so crystal clear instead of milky. A soft cloth and water are all it takes to care for it; cleaners containing alcohol or abrasives attack the surface and do not belong on acrylic glass.
Typical applications: In the living room and the hallway the stand replaces the frame on the wall and can be moved at any time when a new photo arrives. At the workplace it holds the picture of the family, at reception the notice card for visitors. Photo studios show proof prints from the shoot in it, hotels put information for guests in the room, and at weddings it stands on every table with the names of the guests.
The right size: 9 x 15 cm is the smaller of the two 9:16 sizes and takes phone photos printed at 9 cm width; the larger version is the 10 x 18 cm stand. The 9:16 range comprises 9 x 15 and 10 x 18 cm. Classic photo prints in 2:3 portrait format are taken by the sizes from 9 x 13 to 30 x 45 cm.
